Bangladesh face Myanmar in their final Asian Games Group F match with a mountain to climb, knowing only a victory and a favourable combination of results can send them into the quarter-finals.
Following heavy defeats to North Korea (10-0) and South Korea (6-0), the South Asian champions sit bottom of the group with zero points and a goal difference of minus 16.
To advance as one of the two best third-placed teams, Bangladesh must win at Osaka's Nagai Stadium, while their fate also depends on the Group E clash between Vietnam and Thailand.
A draw in that match would leave both teams on one point, allowing Bangladesh to secure a historic knockout berth with a victory over Myanmar. However, if either Vietnam or Thailand win, Bangladesh would need to beat Myanmar by at least eight goals to have a chance of progressing on goal difference.
Despite the daunting challenge, Bangladesh can draw confidence from their 2-1 victory over Myanmar in the AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers last July.
The squad trained in Sakai to address their defensive errors, with goalkeeper coach Masud Ahmad Uzzal confirming that there were no injury concerns.
"We have had good training sessions over the last two days. There are no injury problems among the girls," Uzzal said.
"We played against two very strong teams. We want to take the positives, move forward, and fix our mistakes. Over the past two days, we worked specifically on those errors.
"We are trying to motivate the girls, showing them their mistakes and how to correct them on the pitch. The rest is in God's hands. We want to return home with a good result."
