Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud continues to make headlines both at home and abroad after being nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2026, while former Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait has praised the fast bowler’s recent performances in county cricket.

Hasan Mahmud was named among the three nominees for the monthly ICC award alongside Sri Lanka batter Sonal Dinusha and England pacer Ollie Robinson following his outstanding performances against Australia. The right-arm pacer played a key role in Bangladesh's historic first-ever Test victory on Australian soil, producing a match-winning display in Darwin.

He claimed 6-55 in the first innings before adding 3-56 in the second innings to finish with nine wickets in the two-match series at an average of 19.78. His efforts were widely regarded as one of the major reasons behind Bangladesh’s memorable win in Australia.

The nomination is another significant milestone for Hasan, who has enjoyed an impressive year across different formats and conditions.

Away from international cricket, the 26-year-old has been enjoying a productive stint with Kent in the County Championship. He played a key role in Kent’s 84-run win over Worcestershire, taking four wickets in the first innings and adding three more in the second. The strong showing came shortly after his match winning exploits in Australia.

Former Australia speedster Shaun Tait who previously worked with Hasan as Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, said he was delighted to see the pacer gaining valuable experience in England.

“I’m very pleased that he is playing county. I really enjoy working with him, he’s a quality bowler,” Tait said.

Tait also spoke about another rising Bangladesh pacer, Nahid Rana, who has reportedly attracted interest from several Big Bash League franchises ahead of the upcoming season.

The 23-year-old's pace and performances have caught the attention of teams in Australia, though reports suggest the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may prioritise his international commitments and workload management over franchise opportunities.

Tait said the interest in Nahid was understandable given the young fast bowler’s talent and potential.

I’m not surprised. They should be interested in him. But it sounds like BCB might manage him for international cricket instead. Let’s see,” he stated.
