Hermann equals ODI debut world record

South Africa’s Jordan Hermann made a historic One Day International debut on Wednesday, scoring 150 against Namibia in Windhoek to equal the world record for the highest score on debut.

The 24-year-old left-hander, opening the innings, reached his century off 93 balls before completing his 150 from 125 deliveries, eventually finishing on 150 off 126.

Hermann matched fellow South African Matthew Breetzke, who scored 150 against New Zealand in Lahore in February 2025.

He also became the fifth South African to score a century on ODI debut, with the highest runs along with Breetzke among them. Ingram was the first to achieve the feat for South Africa, making 124 against Zimbabwe in Bloemfontein in 2010. Bavuma followed with 113 against Ireland in Benoni in 2016, before Hendricks struck 102 against Sri Lanka in 2018.
