Bangladesh stepped up their preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over newly promoted City Club at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.
Forward Sheikh Morsalin and Mohammedan winger Emon Shahriar scored for Thomas Dooley’s side to secure a straightforward win in the warm-up fixture.
The national team have been training at the Bashundhara facility for several days, with the focus largely on building fitness ahead of the regional tournament.
Morsalin broke the deadlock to give Bangladesh an early lead before Imon doubled the advantage, giving Jamal Bhuiyan, Rakib Hossain and their teammates a comfortable outing.
The match served a dual purpose, allowing Bangladesh to sharpen their competitive edge ahead of the ASEAN Cup while giving City Club valuable preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The Mirpur-based side earned promotion to the Bangladesh Football League and used the encounter as a pre-season test against top-level opposition.
Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Kristian Barbuscak joined the national team setup on Tuesday, adding further expertise to the head coach’s backroom staff.
The Bangladesh Football Federation appointed the German specialist in August, banking on his international experience. Barbucas has previously worked with Bundesliga club FC Augsburg and the Kazakhstan national team.
Bangladesh will continue their training at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the coming days before departing for the tournament.
