Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz left Dhaka on Saturday morning to join Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL), hoping to make an impact after missing a game during his previous stint.

The 28-year-old joined Guyana as a replacement for Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi on Monday, with the Afghan joining his national side for their upcoming series against India. Miraz had an early flight and was in a hurry to reach the airport before his journey to the Caribbean began.

This will be his second CPL stint. He was picked by Trinbago Knight Riders in 2017 but did not feature in a match.

Things could be different this time, with Guyana captain Imran Tahir personally contacting Miraz and encouraging him to join. He has reportedly been assured opportunities in the playing XI, with additional matches and bonuses possible if Guyana reach the playoffs. Miraz is expected to earn around Tk12 lakh per match.

He heads to the CPL after a productive series against Australia, scoring 77 runs and taking six wickets, including a five-wicket haul. He also hit an unbeaten 109 with 11 fours and four sixes against a Cricket Australia XI.

Miraz will be eager to make his chance count this time, while Guyana will hope he can carry his recent form into the tournament.
