Adam Abbas, former Manchester United academy forward arrived in Bangladesh to bolster the national Under-20 side ahead of their upcoming AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifying campaign.

The 19-year-old winger landed on Saturday and headed straight to the Shams-ul-Huda Academy in Jessore to join the national squad's residential training camp, swapping the cold turf of English football for a fresh international challenge in South Asia.

Abbas spent four formative years soaking up tactical discipline at Manchester United’s world-renowned youth academy before moving to Burnley’s Under-18 setup, where his progress was temporarily stalled by injury.

Born and raised in England, the young forward carries deep roots in Bangladesh through his maternal grandparents. Blessed with a tall, powerful frame from his Jamaican father and a polished footballing education from England, local officials believe his physical dominance and attacking pedigree could give Bangladesh a crucial edge.

Bangladesh Under-20 assistant coach Atiqur Rahman Mishu welcomed the young forward’s arrival, expressing confidence that his European background will bring much-needed equilibrium to the front line.

"He joined us today," said Mishu. "We haven't seen him on the training pitch yet, but we will sit down with him to evaluate his fitness and match sharpness over the past month."

"Judging by his profile, he brings a fresh dimension and real balance to the squad. The real test, of course, will be out on the pitch," he added.

Abbas is not the only player bringing overseas experience to the camp. The young striker will be joined by four other expatriate footballers, adding a rich layer of international depth to the Bangladeshi roster.

Bangladesh face a stern test in Group B of the qualifiers, which take place in Uzbekistan from 31 August to 5 September. The squad is scheduled to touch down in Uzbekistan on 27 August to prepare for their battles against the hosts, Syria, and South Asian rivals India.
