Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is set to miss the next edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after signing with Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the upcoming SA20 season.
As the two tournaments are expected to overlap, Rishad is likely to be unavailable for the BPL for a second consecutive season. He missed the previous edition while representing Hobart Hurricanes in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL).
Rishad is now set to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to take the field in the SA20.
The 24-year-old has continued to strengthen his reputation in franchise cricket. He enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), claiming 12 wickets for Lahore Qalandars, before producing another strong display in the BBL.
Playing for Hobart Hurricanes, Rishad picked up 15 wickets in 11 innings and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taking spinner of the tournament.
The upcoming SA20 season is scheduled to run from 9 January to 4 February.
