Shamim, Sabbir feature in Bangladesh HP squad for Malaysia series

Bangladesh batter Shamim Hossain Patwari will get another opportunity to regain his form after being included in the Bangladesh Cricket Board's High Performance (HP) squad for a two-match T20 series against Malaysia.

The left-hander has slipped out of the senior national side following a lean run with the bat in recent series. Inconsistent returns eventually cost him his place during the recently concluded Zimbabwe tour.

The 25-year-old has now been named in the 15-man HP squad, captained by S M Meherob Hasan, for the two T20 matches in Mirpur on  8 and 10 August.

Middle-order batter Sabbir Rahman has also been included in the squad, while national team pace-bowling all-rounder Abdul Gaffar Saqlain will feature in the series as well.

Mohammad Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, who has represented Bangladesh in one ODI and one T20I, is also part of the squad.

Malaysia will arrive in Dhaka on 5 August for the tour, which also includes a three-match Under-23 ODI series against Bangladesh from 12 to 16 August.
