On Monday, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is set to appoint three additional overseas coaches to Thomas Dooley’s backroom staff. This new contingent comprises two assistant coaches and a dedicated goalkeeping coach.

Hailing from Germany, Kristian Barbuscak is poised to arrive on Bangladeshi shores to take up the mantle of goalkeeping coach. During his playing days, the 49-year-old tactician plied his trade across various age-group echelons for clubs in both Slovakia and his native Germany.

Barbuscak embarked upon his managerial journey in 2003. He notably orchestrated the goalkeeping department for the Kazakhstan national team during the 2011-12 campaign. Most recently, he marshalled the penalty areas for Perth FC in Australia's premier division during the 2025-26 season. Now, he eagerly awaits the illustrious task of refining the gloves of Srabon and Mitul Marma within the Bangladesh national squad.

Amongst the duo of newly minted assistant coaches is Vietnam’s Hoang Lan Nguyen. Armed with an AFC 'C' license, this widely travelled instructor previously served as the assistant coach for the Guyana national football team. His most recent tenure saw him orchestrating tactics as the assistant at Bac Ninh FC, a stalwart of Vietnam’s second division.

Furthermore, the secondary assistant slot in Dooley’s refined ensemble is filled by another German, Reinhard Karl Stumpf. The 64-year-old former centre-half boasts an exceedingly rich and decorated managerial tapestry. He has commanded the touchline as head coach for Saudi Pro League heavyweights Al Shabab and Al Ettifaq. In his playing prime, this UEFA Pro Licence holder graced the pitches for illustrious sides such as Galatasaray and 1. FC Köln.

Following Javier Cabrera's tenure as Bangladesh national football team coach, Thomas Dooley stepped into the dugout to marshal the likes of Hamza and Jamal. The American tactician has already savoured a triumphant debut assignment, masterminding a spirited 2-1 victory over San Marino.
