The stage is set for South Asia's biggest football showdown. On Tuesday, the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) officially confirmed that the SAFF Championship 2026 will kick off in Dhaka, running from 4 to 17 November.
All member countries are expected to battle it out for the regional crown. This announcement ends months of worry that a busy international schedule might force top teams to miss the tournament.
Now, the 15th edition of this flagship event is ready to make its exciting return to Bangladesh for the first time since 2018.
"We are absolutely delighted to announce the dates and venue for the SAFF Championship 2026," SAFF General Secretary Purushottam Kattel said. "This tournament holds a special place in our hearts, having created countless memorable moments for football fans across the region over the years."
Before the action starts on the pitch, fans have two big dates to look forward to. The official tournament logo will be revealed in Dhaka on 25 July. A week later, the official team draw will take place in Thimphu, Bhutan, on 1 August.
The timing of the championship aims to keep the football fever going right after the sport's biggest global event.
"Bangladesh’s confirmation as the host is particularly exciting in light of the rapidly growing interest in football across the country," Kattel added.
He also shared his high hopes for the host nation, adding, "We look forward to Bangladesh delivering a grand and successful event that will leave a lasting impression on players and fans alike."
