Argentine Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcelo Carlos Sessa visited the Dhaka University campus on Monday night to experience the massive public screening of the Argentina versus Austria FIFA World Cup 2026 match.

The ambassador arrived at the Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall field before the kickoff, accompanied by popular Argentine influencer Rulio, who is widely known as a close friend of Lionel Messi, along with his teammates.

A festive atmosphere took over the campus as hundreds of fans wearing jerseys and waving flags gathered at Muhsin Hall and Muhammad Shahidullah Hall fields from 21:00, ahead of the 23:00 kickoff in Dallas, USA.

"It feels like I am in Argentina. I feel like I am in my own country here," Ambassador Sessa said, expressing his deep gratitude to the passionate crowd. Rulio also shared his enthusiasm, stating, "Bangladesh, I love you."

The student organisation Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal hosted a cultural and musical programme at Muhsin Hall to mark the occasion. Du Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, and various levels of organizational leaders attended the event.

Several other notable Argentine visitors also joined the campus celebrations, including travel writer and content creator Dan Lande, alongside creative professionals Manuel Javier Escabra Ramon, Martin de Escalada, Martina Joye Gondel, and Santiago Conde.
