Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Das is unlikely to feature in the remaining two games of the three-match T20 series against Australia as he is yet to fully recover from a muscle tear, leaving the hosts with several concerns, a source within the national team told Daily Sun on Thursday.
“He is unlikely to feature tomorrow (Friday), and even in the series,” said a source close to the development.
Another source said that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is unwilling to take any risk with Litton’s fitness, with Bangladesh set to tour Zimbabwe for a three-format series starting with the lone Test later this month.
“No risk will be taken,” said a BCB official regarding Litton.
Litton was injured during the final game of the three-match One Day International series against Australia in Mirpur while batting on 48, before returning later to complete his half-century.
He did not feature in the first T20, which Bangladesh lost by four wickets at the Bir Sreshtha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, with Litton’s absence felt strongly.
Bangladesh are now likely to go without Litton in the second match scheduled for Friday at the same venue.
