Bangladesh captain Litton Das is facing a race against time to be fit for the opening match of the three-match T20 series against Australia in Chattogram on 17 June.

Sources close to the team said that Litton is still being monitored after suffering a muscle strain during the third and final One Day International in Mirpur on Sunday.

While there is no major concern over the injury, his availability for the series opener remains uncertain.

His participation in the first T20 is subject to a scan scheduled for Tuesday.

"It's not a big issue, a muscle tear in his leg. He will be fine. But we are not sure about the first T20," said a source.

The wicketkeeper-batter retired hurt on 48 before returning later to complete his half-century.

Team management is expected to assess his recovery over the next couple of days before taking a final call.

Bangladesh are likely to be cautious with one of their most experienced white-ball cricketers, especially with a busy international schedule ahead.

With the T20 series knocking on the door, Bangladesh will look to build on the momentum gained from their historic ODI series victory over Australia.
