Bangladesh One Day International captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been discharged from Evercare Hospital after spending around 12 hours under observation following a head injury sustained during the second game of the three-match series against Australia on Thursday.
Miraz was struck on the head by a bouncer from Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis during the match. He was also seen vomiting on the field, raising immediate concerns, but despite the scare, he continued batting and helped Bangladesh seal the series.
After the match, Bangladesh Cricket Board physios decided to send him to Evercare Hospital for scans.
"The initial scan results were satisfactory. He was scanned again today (Friday), and as the reports were positive, he has been discharged," manager Nafees Iqbal said.
A decision on Miraz's availability for Sunday's third and final ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is yet to be made, pending an assessment of whether he can train on Saturday. Bangladesh have already secured the series.
