An authoritative, all-round display by defending champions New Zealand Women saw Bangladesh Women suffer a devastating 68-run loss at Loughborough.
The loss comes as a wake-up call for the Tigresses ahead of the upcoming all-important ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, exposing a massive gulf in class between the two sides.
Opting to bat first after a rain-delayed start, New Zealand weaponised their immense batting depth to post a monumental 193 for 3 in their allocated 20 overs.
Opener Suzie Bates and number three Izzy Sharp laid a blistering foundation for the innings.
Both batters took the Bangladesh attack to the cleaners, playing an array of aggressive strokes across the ground, though they fell just short of their individual half-centuries, departing for 45 and 46 runs respectively.
Following the solid opening platform, skipper Amelia Kerr unleashed absolute carnage.
Kerr anchored the middle overs with supreme authority, blasting a rapid 28-ball 51.
Her aggressive knock completely deflated the Bangladesh bowling attack and propelled New Zealand to an imposing total.
For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni was the only real silver lining, finishing as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 36 amid the onslaught.
Chasing a mountain too steep to climb, Bangladesh’s response stuttered early in the face of disciplined bowling.
They lost crucial wickets in quick succession, slipping to a perilous 19 for 2 inside the powerplay overs.
Juairiya Ferdous (26) and Taj Nehar briefly steadied the ship with a gritty partnership, but New Zealand's clinical bowling unit engineered regular batting collapses thereafter.
Off-spinner Nensi Patel broke the back of Bangladesh's batting lineup, turning in a magical, match-winning spell of 4 for 18 that ran through the middle order.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty fought a lonely, defiant battle with an unbeaten 33-ball 32, but she found virtually no support from the other end as wickets tumbled regularly.
Bangladesh ultimately dragged out the contest to see out their 20 overs, finishing on a modest 125 for 8.
Bangladesh face Ireland on Tuesday in their second warm-up match at the same venue.
