Bashundhara Kings have brought the curtain down on a magnificent, treble-winning campaign with a stylish 4-1 comeback victory over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club, proving definitively that true champions shine brightest in the face of adversity.

Having already secured their sixth Bangladesh Football League (BFL) crown with a game to spare, the season finale could have been treated as a mere procession.

Instead, it became a final testament to the iron-clad resilience that has defined their year.

Behind the scenes, the Kings endured a deeply turbulent season, navigating the abrupt departure of their foreign manager and the notable absence of key overseas personnel.

Yet, the moment they crossed the white line, the squad shielded themselves from the noise.

Their ultimate reward?

Etching their names into the history books as the first club in the nation to secure a second domestic treble.

Playing with the unmistakable swagger of champions, Bashundhara laid siege to the Fakirerpool penalty area from the opening whistle.

Operating with a fiercely high defensive line, they pinned their opponents back through a relentless wave of early attacks.

However, football remains a game of fine margins, and Fakirerpool ruthlessly punished the champions' attacking exuberance against the run of play.

Spotting the high line, Egyptian midfielder Mostafa Mahmoud Abdelkhalek Hammad threaded a majestic through ball from deep.

Ivorian forward Ouattara Ben Ibrahim seized the moment, bursting clear of the defence to casually round Kings' goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico and roll the ball home, handing the underdogs a shock 1-0 lead.

If Fakirerpool harboured any illusions of spoiling the title party, Bashundhara quickly and emphatically shattered them.

The champions’ response was swift and uncompromising.

In the 36th minute, the talismanic Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes Nascimento restored parity, towering above the defence to meet Sohel Rana’s pinpoint free-kick with a thumping header.

The equaliser opened the floodgates.

Scarcely two minutes later, the Kings completed their turnaround.

Dorielton seamlessly transitioned from goalscorer to architect, picking out Mojibor Rahman Jony inside the penalty area.

The midfielder met the pass with a clinical, low-driven strike that arrowed into the net, sending the champions into the interval with a deserved 2-1 advantage.

Following the restart, the match transformed into an exhibition of fluid, attacking football.

In the 62nd minute, a sweeping counter-attack caught Fakirerpool hopelessly exposed.

Jony and Dorielton dismantled the opposition backline with a dizzying exchange of one-touch passes, culminating in a vicious strike from the Brazilian.

The shot took a heavy, fortuitous deflection off teammate Shahriar Emon before wrong-footing the goalkeeper, with the goal officially credited to the Kings forward to make it 3-1.

The crowning moment of the afternoon, however, arrived in the 74th minute.

Rakib Hossain carved the Fakirerpool defence wide open with a breathtaking pass from the centre of the park.

Collecting the ball in his stride, Dorielton made a mockery of the onrushing goalkeeper with a dazzling display of footwork, toying with the defence before rolling the ball into an empty net to seal a comprehensive 4-1 triumph.

When the referee's final whistle echoed around the stadium, it signalled more than just the end of a match; it concluded a masterclass in mental fortitude.

The Kings finish the season perched imperiously at the summit with a formidable 41 points, having recorded 12 victories, five draws, and just a single defeat from their 18 outings.

In a year where off-field chaos threatened to derail them, the undisputed kings of Bangladesh football simply soared higher than ever.

Arambagh relegated

Fakirerpool have already been demoted from the BFL, and all that remained to be seen was who would join them.

The wait ended with Arambagh Krira Sangha’s 4-0 loss to Abahani Limited with the former now joining Fakirerpool in exiting through the trap door of relegation.

In 18 matches, Arambagh only have three wins, five draws and 10 losses, totalling 14 points.
