Bangladesh reached lunch on 101 for three on the first day of the second and final Test against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, with Mohammad Abbas doing the early damage and Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease.
Bangladesh's morning was one of promise and frustration in equal measure.
Debutant Tanzid Hasan Tamim began his Test career with fluency, striking three boundaries in a 34-ball knock of 26, but threw his wicket away attempting an ambitious shot off Abbas, who held the return catch.
The partnership between Tanzid and Mominul Haque was worth 44 runs off 58 balls before it was broken, and Mominul continued to build with Shanto before Khurram Shahzad bowled him for 22 off 41 balls to leave Bangladesh wobbling at 63 for three.
The morning was also marked by a frightening moment when Hasan Ali, attempting to take a catch off his own bowling, fell awkwardly and suffered a head injury, leaving the field on a stretcher.
However, the experienced pacer returned to bowl later in the session.
Bangladesh had lost opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck off the second ball of the match, caught at second slip off Abbas, leaving debutant Tanzid to steady the ship alongside Mominul.
Pakistan wasted their first review when Shan Masood challenged a leg before wicket decision against Shanto, with replays showing the impact was outside off stump.
At lunch, Shanto was unbeaten on 26 off 51 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim on 18 off 31 balls, with the pair having added 38 runs for the fourth wicket.
