Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has come under investigation after returning a positive test for recreational drug use, with his planned move to Surrey County Cricket Club collapsing as a result, according to ESPNcricinfo.
The report states Nawaz is currently subject to an International Cricket Council (ICC) anti-doping process. A Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying that the ICC had informed them and that due process had begun, with results to be communicated to the ICC.
ESPNcricinfo has learned the positive test dates back to the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The 32-year-old featured in all seven of Pakistan’s matches in Sri Lanka, scoring 15 runs and claiming seven wickets as they exited at the Super Eight stage.
