Blessing Muzarabani’s switch to the Indian Premier League (IPL) has triggered a fierce backlash, with his agency blasting the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after the pacer was slapped with a two-year ban.
The Zimbabwe quick joined Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, prompting disciplinary action from the PSL.
However, his representatives insist that there was no contract to breach.
On X (formerly Twitter), his agency cleared on Sunday that while Muzarabani was approached by Islamabad United, the deal remained conditional and hinged on securing a No Objection Certificate from Zimbabwe Cricket.
"No contract was ever provided. You simply cannot breach a contract you have never received," the agency declared, directly challenging the PSL’s stance.
The row intensified after the Pakistan Cricket Board, led by Mohsin Naqvi, enforced a two-year suspension, citing a violation of commitments.
Muzarabani's camp deemed the punishment "incredibly excessive" and called for its withdrawal, labelling the incident an administrative error, according to an NDTV report.
On the field, the pacer has already made waves in the IPL. After a quiet debut, he bagged a four-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
