Moeen hails Nahid’s express bowling against Karachi

The former England international Moeen Ali heaped praise on Peshawar Zalmi's Bangladesh speedster Nahid Rana as he roared back from a quiet debut to unleash a devastating spell against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.

After the match, the Karachi all-rounder singled out Nahid’s spell as the defining factor.

"Facing express pace is always difficult. The lengths he bowled were very, very good," the left-handed batter said on Friday. "You don’t face many bowlers with that kind of speed these days."

Moeen, who previously faced Nahid in the Bangladesh Premier League, highlighted his discipline and physical presence.

"He didn’t bowl many loose deliveries. The pace and height are a big advantage. I hope he becomes a star for Bangladesh cricket," he added.

Despite being expensive in his debut game for Peshawar, the 23-year-old Nahid ripped through the Kings with searing pace, returning sensational figures of three for seven from four overs.

His fellow Bangladeshi pacer Shoriful Islam backed him up superbly with one for 23 in four.

Karachi were bundled out for just 87 while chasing 246, never recovering from the early onslaught, and lost the match by 159 runs.

The emphatic win lifted Zalmi to second place in the standings with seven points from four matches, just behind Multan Sultans.
