Australian opener David Warner has been charged and arrested with drink-driving in Sydney, casting a shadow over his ongoing stint as Karachi Kings skipper in the Pakistan Super League.
The former international has been issued a Field Court Attendance Notice and is scheduled to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on 7 May 2026.
Warner’s vehicle was seen pulling over and parking shortly before reaching the testing point, prompting officers to approach and conduct a roadside check, the NDTV report cited on Tuesday.
“A van was seen to stop short of the testing site and park, allegedly,” police said in a statement. “Officers approached the driver and subjected him to roadside testing, which returned a positive result.”
The 39-year-old was stopped by New South Wales Police during a random breath test in Maroubra on Sunday evening, where he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.104, more than double the legal limit.
Warner was subsequently taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test confirmed the reading.
“He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104,” the statement added.
