In a bid to address the growing concerns over the Bangladesh team's absence from the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, a formal investigation into the matter has been announced by Aminul Haque, the Youth and Sports State Minister.

The inquiry will focus on identifying the root causes of the snub, with a specific emphasis on a perceived lack of "sports diplomacy."

Addressing the situation, Aminul expressed a firm commitment to uncovering why the nation was sidelined during the global tournament.

"We will examine the reasons why we did not go to play in the World Cup and, Insha’Allah, steps will be taken subsequently," the State Minister told reporters during his visit to Mirpur Bangla School and College. "We have seen a while ago that the World Cup took place, but due to our lack of sports diplomacy, we could not go to play in that World Cup."

The investigation will aim to be comprehensive, seeking to determine exactly where the systemic failures occurred. "Why this happened is also a matter that needs to be investigated. And I hope that I will also form an investigation committee regarding these matters," Aminul noted.

The proposed committee will be tasked with auditing the actions of the sport’s governing body in the country and all relevant stakeholders. The goal is to produce a transparent account of the hurdles that prevented participation.

"I will later certainly demand a report from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and those who were involved regarding why we did not go to play in the World Cup, where our problems lay, or why there was a lack of sports diplomacy from our part, through the investigation committee," Aminul explained.

The announcement follows a high-level meeting with representatives from the Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB). A delegation, led by veteran batter Mohammad Mithun, met with the State Minister to discuss the frustrations within the cricketing community.

"Already, a delegation led by Mithun from ‘CWAB’ came to me. I have spoken with them and listened to their words," said Aminul.

While the grievances have been acknowledged, the formal proceedings are set to begin following Eid-ul-Fitr. Assurances have been given to the players that the matter will remain a top priority.

"I have assured them that later we—since the holy month of Ramadan is currently ongoing—will examine the reasons why we did not go to play in the World Cup after Eid and, Insha’Allah, take steps accordingly," he concluded.
