Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed concern over a recent gazette issued by the National Sports Council (NSC) concerning the investigation of the BCB election held in October 2025.

In a statement on Monday, BCB emphasised that its current board is a duly elected and fully operational body, functioning according to its constitution and governance framework.

The board said the gazette “raises significant concern” as it could create uncertainty regarding the stability, independence, and continuity of the elected administration.

BCB highlighted that it operates within the global governance structure of international cricket as a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Any perceived external interference in the affairs of a democratically elected cricket board could trigger scrutiny under ICC governance and compliance provisions.

Informal discussions with senior ICC representatives have reportedly indicated that such developments may raise governance concerns at the international level.

The board stressed that, before initiating formal communication with the ICC, it is seeking clarification directly from the NSC regarding the context, intent, and implications of the gazette.

“It is essential that the governance autonomy of the elected cricket administration is preserved in accordance with internationally recognised standards,” the statement read.

BCB called on the NSC to resolve the matter in a manner that protects the stability and independence of Bangladesh cricket while safeguarding the country’s standing within the international cricket community.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement with all relevant national authorities, stressing that its priority remains the continued progress and integrity of cricket in Bangladesh.
