Tigers' pace ace Mustafizur Rahman has secured a team in The Hundred, becoming the first Bangladeshi to feature in England’s unique competition.
The left-arm quick was picked up late on Thursday in the draft by Birmingham Phoenix for a fee of 100,000 pounds, which is roughly Tk1 crore 64 lakh 33 thousand in Bangladeshi currency.
The auction for The Hundred was held in London, where nearly 1,000 cricketers from around the world had registered for the tournament.
However, only 247 players made the final shortlist for the event, underlining the fierce competition for places.
A total of 23 Bangladeshis had registered for the draft, but only Mustafizur and Rishad Hossain were included in the final list.
