Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, the Cricket Operations Committee Chairman, Bangladesh Cricket Board, believes conditions at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will differ from the traditionally slow and low Mirpur surfaces from the past, during the upcoming One Day International series against Pakistan.
Speaking on Friday, Namzul said recent pitches in Mirpur have shown signs of change, suggesting that scoring may be easier than in previous years.
“All three matches will be held in Mirpur in this series. Recently, we’ve seen that the traditionally low and slow wickets in Mirpur are no longer the same. The wickets we’ve been playing on lately will be similar this time. We expect that scoring won’t be too difficult. It will be competitive, but scoring won’t be too hard,” he said.
Nazmul added that the Tigers could still enjoy a slight advantage due to familiarity with the conditions, although the traditional home benefit may not be as pronounced as before.
“Some advantage will remain for us since we are used to playing on these wickets. Pakistan’s team isn’t accustomed to them. So we might have a marginal edge. But the kind of advantage we used to get in the past probably won’t be the same anymore,” he explained.
