Uzbekistan midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov rejoined Mohammedan Sporting Club on Sunday, handing the Black and Whites a timely boost ahead of the decisive stretch of the league campaign.
Muzaffarov linked up with the squad two days ago and has already resumed full training.
The 26-year-old first signed for Mohammedan in 2022 from Dinamo Samarkand and quickly cemented his place at the heart of midfield.
Since arriving, he has netted 11 goals in 53 appearances, combining composure, creativity, and authority in the engine room.
He played a pivotal role in ending the club’s 14-year wait for the Federation Cup and helped them clinch their maiden Bangladesh Football League title.
With slick ball control and sharp playmaking instincts, Muzaffarov earned the nickname “the heartbeat of Mohammedan” among supporters.
His departure earlier this season sparked speculation, with reports suggesting salary-related tensions despite official claims of family reasons.
Sources indicated that unpaid dues had created friction, but both sides have now drawn a line under the issue.
His return signals renewed stability as Mohammedan prepares for the league’s restart.
The Bangladesh Football League resumes on 6 March after a two-month pause caused by the mid-season transfer window and national elections.
Four matches will kick off the restart. Arambagh Krira Sangha face Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club in Manikganj, while Bangladesh Police FC meet Brothers Union in Gazipur.
At Kings Arena, Bashundhara Kings will battle PWD SC, and in Cumilla, Abahani Limited Dhaka take on Rahmatganj MFS.
On 7 March, Mohammedan will lock horns with Fortis FC in Cumilla.
