The newly appointed Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque on Tuesday declared the government’s intention to pave the way for the return of Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to Bangladesh cricket.
“Since there are cases filed against them, those matters should be resolved quickly at the state level so that they can return,” the State Minister said. “We also want Shakib and Mashrafe to come back to Bangladesh cricket.”
The former Bangladesh football team captain confirmed that the issue will be handled directly at the state level, signaling flexibility from the government in reviewing the legal complications surrounding the two senior cricketers.
“The cases against them will be reviewed and addressed by the state. We want Shakib to return,” he reiterated.
He also turned his attention to the Bangladesh Cricket Board, raising concerns over its most recent election.
“As I have said before, the cricket board election was questionable,” he remarked. “We will sit down and discuss the matter.”
The former legendary goalkeeper assured that discussions would be held soon, with steps to be taken within a short period to steer Bangladesh cricket in what he described as a “positive direction”.
The comments indicate potential high-level intervention in both administrative and player-related matters, as the government seeks to stabilise and strengthen the country’s cricketing landscape.
