Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not cast his vote in the 13th National Parliamentary Election of 2026.

Living abroad, Shakib could have voted via postal ballot, but sources close to him confirmed to Daily Sun on Thursday that he did not avail the option.

Shakib, a former lawmaker of the Awami League government, has recently been in the spotlight after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that he would remain eligible for future national team assignments, both at home and abroad, provided he meets the required criteria.

The BCB has also agreed to issue No Objection Certificates to the veteran should he wish to participate in global franchise leagues. Officials said they are planning to bring the 38-year-old back home ahead of Bangladesh’s series against Pakistan.

It was also learnt that former national skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza did not cast his vote. Mashrafe, also a former Awami League lawmaker, remained in Bangladesh following the July movement, sources confirmed.
