Rajshahi Stars FC continued their record-breaking run in the Bangladesh Women’s Football League with a staggering 24-0 win over Kachari Para Akadas Unnayan Shangstha in the sixth round on Saturday at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur. The newcomers surpassed the previous biggest winning margin of the season, a 23-0 victory achieved by Farashganj SC against the same opponents in the second round.
Rajshahi’s
win is now the second-largest in league history, behind Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi
Club’s 26-0 triumph over Arambagh KS Women in 2011.
The match
saw Rajshahi take an early lead through Ritu Porna Chakma in the second minute,
while Reshmi Akter completed her hat-trick with a goal in the final minute of
stoppage time. Sauravi Akanda Prity and Alpi Akter were the standout scorers,
each netting seven goals, and Shaheda Akter Ripa scored four. Munki Akter and
Sapna Rani also added one goal apiece.
The victory
means Rajshahi have now won five consecutive matches and are sharing top spot
with Farashganj SC and Bangladesh Army Sports Club Ltd. Rajshahi remain the
league’s top scorers with 55 goals from five matches, while Farashganj have
scored 50 without conceding. Army have scored 37 goals in six games, conceding
only two. Kachari Para remain near the bottom, having leaked 88 goals in six
matches and finding the net just twice.
In other
matches played on Saturday, Dhaka Rangers FC defeated Nasrin Sports Academy 2-0
with goals from Mosammat Mimi Khatun and Rumi Hasda. Farashganj SC edged
Bangladesh Army Sports Club Ltd 1-0 through Shamsunnahar Jr’s 82nd-minute
strike. Suddopuskorini Jubo SC routed Siraj Srity Sangsad 5-0 as Kumari Payel
Rani netted a hat-trick and Jannatul Ferdous Jinuk added two. The final match
of the day saw Ansar & VDP FC and BKSP FC share points in a 2-2 draw.
The league
now moves into its seventh round on Tuesday, where five more fixtures will be
played across the country.
