Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain delivered a commendable bowling performance for Hobart Hurricanes, but his efforts went in vain as Brisbane Heat eked out a dramatic three-run victory in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Wednesday, handing Hurricanes their third defeat of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Hurricanes opted to field first. Rishad made an immediate impact, conceding just five runs in his opening over. Although he leaked 16 runs in his second over, the 23-year-old struck came back strong to remove Matt Renshaw and keep Brisbane’s scoring in check.
Rishad completed his full quota of four overs, giving away 27 runs, and claimed his second wicket by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for five. Brisbane eventually posted a competitive total of 160 runs.
In reply, Hurricanes fell agonisingly short, despite a late push. Needing six runs off the final over, Brisbane pacer Zaman Khan leaked only two, sealing a narrow three-run win.
Despite the loss, Hobart Hurricanes remain at the top of the BBL points table.
