In a dominant display at Hobart, the Hobart Hurricanes solidified their position at the summit of the Big Bash League with a clinical 37-run victory over the Adelaide Strikers.
While Nathan Ellis claimed Player of the Match honors for his economical spell, it was the leg-spin wizardry of Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain that effectively broke the back of the Strikers' chase and catapulted Hobart to a commanding lead in the standings.
Defending a competitive total of 178/6, the Hurricanes' pace attack initially reduced Adelaide to a disastrous 8/4.
However, Rishad ensured there was no middle-order recovery, finishing with standout figures of 3/26 from his four overs.
His first strike came in the sixth over, enticing Harry Manenti into a mistimed paddle sweep.
Rishad’s masterpiece arrived in the ninth over, outmaneuvering Jamie Overton with a brilliantly flighted delivery that turned sharply, leaving the batter stranded for a sharp Matthew Wade stumping.
He later returned to remove Luke Wood, ensuring Adelaide never threatened the target.
This performance has seen Rishad climb to sixth on the tournament’s top wicket-takers list, with 11 wickets to his name, sitting just behind teammate Nathan Ellis.
This victory propels the Hurricanes to 12 points, establishing a significant 4-point cushion at the top of the table.
