A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said on Thursday that a member of the BCB’s Integrity Unit recently confiscated the mobile phone of Dhaka Capitals chief executive officer Atik Fahad.
The incident took place recently and,
according to sources, Fahad was deeply disappointed by the development.
“He was certainly disappointed, but what
can I do as it is handled by another department (BCB Integrity Unit),” the
official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The BCB has repeatedly and publicly
maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in all forms, covering
both domestic competitions such as the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and
Dhaka Premier League (DPL), as well as international cricket.
As part of its efforts to strengthen
governance and oversight, the BCB has taken steps in recent years to reinforce
its integrity framework.
Initially, the board appointed former ICC
head of global cricket’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) Alex Marshall as a
consultant for one year to oversee the operations of the board’s own ACU.
Marshall was later appointed head of the
BCB Integrity Unit, formerly known as the Anti-Corruption Unit, further
underlining the board’s stance on safeguarding the game.
