Sylhet Titans batting coach Imrul Kayes praised leg-spinner Rishad Hossain’s experience in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Tuesday, highlighting the professionalism, welcoming culture and positive environment the young spinner has encountered in Australia.
The veteran revealed that he recently spoke with Rishad during a meeting in Melbourne and was impressed by his mindset and enjoyment of the tournament. “I asked him how things were going, and he said he was really enjoying the culture and environment there. His teammates are very friendly, and the overall atmosphere is completely different from what we are used to in Asia,” Imrul said.
According to the former opener, exposure to such a professional and inclusive cricketing culture is invaluable for a player’s development. He believes competing in elite leagues like the BBL helps cricketers grow not only in skill but also in maturity and confidence.
Imrul also shared a personal note, revealing that he travelled from Sydney to Melbourne specifically to watch Rishad play. “It felt really good to see him there. He is like a younger brother to me, and coming from Bangladesh to play in a tournament like the Big Bash is a big achievement,” he said.
The 38-year-old added that Rishad’s presence in the BBL has been a source of pride for the Bangladeshi community in Australia. “Every Bangladeshi there feels proud and supports him wholeheartedly. That support also helps him build confidence and a fan base,” Imrul noted.
Imrul believes Rishad’s journey reflects the growing recognition of Bangladeshi cricketers in global franchise leagues, calling it a positive step for both the player and Bangladesh cricket.
