The first two rounds of the Bangladesh Women’s Football League concluded last Sunday, followed by a two-day break. The league will resume on Wednesday with the third round, where all matches will be played on artificial turf.
A total of five matches will take place on the same day at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur. The day’s action will begin at 10:00 am, with Nasrin Sports Academy facing Bangladesh Police Football Club. At 12:15 pm, Bangladesh Army SC will take on Ansar & VDP FC. At 2:30 pm, Suddopuskorini Jubo Sc will face Kachari Para Akadas Unnayan Shangstha. At 4:45 pm Siraj Srity Songsod will take Dhaka Rangers FC. The final match of the day will kick off at 7:00 pm, featuring Rajshahi Stars FC against Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP).
Not only Wednesday, but from the third round through to the eighth round—scheduled to run until 24 January—each matchday will feature five matches. There will be breaks of two days before some matchdays, while others will be preceded by a three-day gap in the fixture schedule.
After two rounds, Farashganj Sporting Club sit at the top of the standings with six points, followed closely by Bangladesh Army, who are also on six points. Siraj Srity Songsod are third with four points from one win and one draw. Rajshahi Stars have collected three points from a single match, while BKSP, Bangladesh Police and Suddopuskorini have each registered one win from two matches.
The ongoing league began on December 29 after a break of more than one and a half years. Organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), the tournament has struggled with management issues from the very first match. Concerns were also raised over the stadium’s floodlights. With the third round set to begin on Wednesday, supporters are hoping these problems will be resolved.
