Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday postponed and rescheduled two Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 matches in observance of national mourning and in honour of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The fixtures between Sylhet Titans and Chattogram Royals, and Dhaka Capitals against Rangpur Riders, which were originally scheduled for Tuesday, were called off earlier in the day.

According to a press release issued by the BCB on Wednesday, the matches have been rescheduled to 4 January 2026 in Sylhet.

The press release added, "No BPL matches will be held on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, in line with the general holiday declared by the Government of Bangladesh on the first of three days of national mourning for former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who passed away earlier today (on Tuesday)."

"The matches scheduled for 1 and 2 January at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will proceed as planned. The BPL Governing Council will issue a revised itinerary covering matches scheduled from 5 January 2026 onwards in due course," BCB said in the press release.

Earlier, BCB director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said that both matches will be played on Wednesday, with the first game scheduled to start at 3:00pm and the second at 8:00pm.

Wednesday had initially been designated as a rest day under the tournament’s original schedule.
