Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has expressed his strong determination to guide Rajshahi Warriors to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) glory, as he prepares for a new challenge in the upcoming season.
Speaking on Thursday at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura, Mushfiq highlighted the ever-evolving nature of the BPL, noting that each edition presents fresh challenges, new team dynamics and added responsibilities for senior players. The experienced wicketkeeper-batter said his foremost objective would be to deliver consistent and impactful performances for Rajshahi, while also playing a meaningful role in shaping the team’s campaign.
“Every tournament comes with new challenges and a new team,” Mushfiq said. “Insha’Allah, the aim will be to perform very well for Rajshahi. I have been fortunate to win the BPL twice with Barishal, and this time the effort will be to make Rajshahi champions. They have lifted the trophy once before, and I want to ensure we give a strong fight and that my contribution is significant.”
Mushfiq also recalled Rajshahi’s BPL triumph in the 2019–20 season, when the franchise competed as Rajshahi Royals, and stressed his desire to help the team relive that success again.
This season, the Rajshahi Warriors feature a well-rounded squad combining experience with promising youth. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and veteran Mushfiqur Rahim will anchor the batting, while Mohammad Nawaz and Tanzim Hasan Sakib provide vital all-round options. The bowling unit will rely on the experience of Mohammad Rubel and the versatility of Dushan Hemantha. Alongside them, several youngsters are set to make an impact, with Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Hasan Murad, Ripon Mondol, and Jisan Alam offering energy and depth across departments.
