Anisul Islam Emon struck an unbeaten 183 as Dhaka Division dominated the opening day of the National Cricket League final round against Chattogram at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Emon was dropped on 161 under fading light when Irfan Sukkur
grassed a routine catch off Mohammed Ifhran Hossain, a miss that summed up a
frustrating day for Chattogram’s fielders. Partnered by the experienced Marshal
Ayub, Emon kept Dhaka firmly on top as the pair added 163 runs in the final
session without loss.
Dhaka closed on a commanding 356/2. Emon posted his maiden
first-class hundred off 137 balls before crossing 150 in 192. Marshal will
resume on 109, having brought up his third hundred of the season — and 29th in
first-class cricket — off 119 deliveries.
Chattogram, who elected to bowl first, went wicketless in
the opening session. Dhaka lost Ashiqur Rahman Shibli to a hand injury on 27
late in the morning, ending a 72-run opening stand. Faisal Ahmed Raihan (9) and
Jishan Alam (22) departed soon after, but the Emon–Marshal stand restored
Dhaka’s dominance.
In Rajshahi, Barishal reached stumps at 269/9 against
Sylhet, with Iftikhar Hossain Ifte scoring 63 and Hafizur Rahman 58. Mohiuddin
Tareq took three wickets.
At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, title
contenders Mymensingh bowled Rajshahi out for 219 before finishing the day on
73/2. Naim Ahmed made 81 and Habibur Rahman Sohan 44, while Abu Hayed Rony
claimed three wickets.
In Bogura, Khulna ended on 302/9 against Rangpur. Soumya
Sarkar hit a brisk 56 off 55 balls. Nasir Hossain picked up three wickets.
