Abahani were held to a 0–0 draw by Fortis FC in Round Five of the Bangladesh Football League at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Saturday. After ending a three-match winless streak with a 2–0 victory over Bangladesh Police FC in the previous round, Abahani were unable to maintain their momentum, while Fortis displayed strong resilience to secure a valuable point.
Both teams created numerous attacking opportunities, but exceptional goalkeeping prevented any breakthrough. Abahani’s Mitul Marma, last season’s league best goalkeeper, made several key saves, while Fortis custodian Sujan Perera was equally alert, denying the Sky Blues on multiple occasions. Despite missing key players—Shekh Morsalin for Abahani and Omar Babu for Fortis—both sides pressed aggressively throughout the match.
Fortis dominated much of the first half, with Okafor and Sajed Hossain producing dangerous chances, only to be frustrated by Mitul. Abahani fought back in the second half but were repeatedly thwarted by Perera, including a brilliant save from Diabate’s low strike in the 86th minute. Fortis also came close to scoring in stoppage time, but their final shot rattled the outside net.
Abahani will next face Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club on 13 December at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj in Round Six of the league.
