Mohammedan bounce back strongly with Boateng’s hat-trick heroics

Mohammedan SC delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season as they swept aside PWD Sports Club in Round Five of the Bangladesh Premier League, powered by a brilliant hat-trick from Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng. The emphatic win came as a strong and timely response after their unexpected defeat to Fakirerpool in the previous round.

On Saturday, Mohammedan asserted control early, taking the lead in the 31st minute when Uzbek midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov confidently converted a penalty to put the Black-and-Whites ahead. From that moment, they dictated the tempo and never allowed PWD to settle.

The second half unfolded as the Samuel Boateng show. Combining strength, pace and clinical finishing, the Ghanaian striker dismantled the PWD backline with three superb goals—each showcasing his sharp instincts and Mohammedan’s re-energised attacking rhythm. PWD earned a penalty in stoppage time but wasted their chance to reduce the deficit, summing up their difficult evening.

The commanding victory lifts Mohammedan to seven points, moving them up to fourth place—just above Brothers Union on goal difference. For a club grappling with administrative issues and internal instability, the result brings a significant boost in morale and direction as the season gains momentum.

Mohammedan now face one of their toughest tests yet. In the sixth round, scheduled for 12 December, they will take on league leaders Bashundhara Kings at the Bashundhara Kings Arena—a clash that promises to be a defining challenge for the rejuvenated Black-and-Whites.
