Amite Hasan lit up Day 3 of the sixth round of the 27th National Cricket League (NCL), becoming the first batter of the season to score a double century as Sylhet seized full control of their match against Rajshahi. His superb 213 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, coupled with Sylhet’s massive first-innings total, put the side in a dominant position heading into the final day.
Resuming on 172, Amite extended his innings masterfully
before Sylhet declared on 535/8, taking a commanding 299-run lead after
Rajshahi’s first-innings 236. Amite and his overnight partner Asadullah Galib
put on a mammoth 342-run stand — the second-highest fourth-wicket partnership
in NCL history. Galib fell agonisingly short of his own double century,
dismissed for 180. Rajshahi ended Day 3 on 146/3, reducing the deficit to 153
runs. Nabil Samad claimed all three wickets before SM Meherob (55*) and Pritom
Kumar (29*) steadied the innings.
Meanwhile at the Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium, Chattogram
continued their impressive campaign with a thumping innings and 43-run victory
over Rangpur with a day to spare. Rangpur, resuming on 4–0 in their second
innings, were bundled out for 181. Spinners Nayeem Hasan and Hasan Murad ran
riot, sharing eight wickets — four each. Captain Akbar Ali fought hard with a
top score of 58. Chattogram had earlier posted 350, powered by Jillur Rahman
Bijoy’s 113, before bowling out Rangpur for 126 in the first innings, with
pacer Hasan Mahmud claiming a five-wicket haul. Enforcing the follow-on proved
successful as they wrapped up a dominant win.
At the Sylhet Academy Ground, Barishal battled their way
back into contention after a shaky start in pursuit of a 380-run target against
Mymensingh. Reduced to 23/4, they recovered through an unbeaten 85-run stand
between Zahiduzzaman (47*) and Tasamul Haque (37*), finishing the day on 108/4.
They still require 272 runs with six wickets in hand. Earlier, Mymensingh
declared their second innings on 242/9, setting an overall lead of 379.
Barishal’s Ruyel Miah was outstanding, adding 5-64 to his first-innings 5-75
for a match haul of 10 wickets. However, he could not prevent Mymensingh from
building a sizeable advantage. Al-Amin top-scored with a blazing 86 off 73
balls, while opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh made 53. Mymensingh had earlier posted
354, led by Abu Haider’s 97 and Al-Amin’s 74. Barishal replied with 217 in the
first innings, conceding a 138-run lead.
At the Khulna Divisional Stadium, Dhaka Division maintained
the upper hand over Khulna after extending their first-innings total to 310,
securing a 116-run lead. Skipper Marshall Ayub made 53, joining Foysal Ahmed
(77) and Jishan Alam (57) as Dhaka’s trio of half-centurions. Khulna’s Awlad
Hossain returned figures of 4-79, while Ziaur Rahman chipped in with 2-51.
Trailing by a significant margin, Khulna reached 149/5 by stumps in their
second innings, taking an overall 33-run lead. Soumya Sarkar was unbeaten on 31
alongside Imranuzzaman on 27 as they fought to keep their side in the contest.
