The government plans to introduce a new sports textbook for class four from the next academic year, making sports an integral part of education to help build a healthier, disciplined and drug-free generation, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said on Friday.
Addressing the students, the former international stressed the importance of setting life goals early and working hard to achieve them, saying there was no substitute for education.
The state minister also outlined plans to improve educational institutions and address teachers’ housing needs.
He said he had already sent demi-official (DO) letters seeking development work at educational institutions in Pallabi and Rupnagar. He would discuss separate housing facilities for teachers with the education minister and, if necessary, submit a proposal to the Prime Minister.
Calling for an end to political vengeance, Aminul urged all concerned to work together to build a united and humane Bangladesh.
“We do not want a repetition of the history of the past 17 years,” he mentioned at Mirpur Bangla School and College.
He also called on teachers, parents, the government and society as a whole to play responsible roles in ensuring a healthy environment for students.
