Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan-starrer much-discussed film “Soldier” has run into fresh trouble, with nine days of shooting still incomplete despite repeated attempts to resume production. The delay has effectively ruled out the film’s planned December release.
The shooting for the film began in October last year, generating considerable excitement among moviegoers. The makers subsequently unveiled Shakib’s new look and a glimpse video, announcing a tentative release schedule in December. However, the plan was later revised, with October this year emerging as the new release window.
Following assurances from the production team, Shakib himself announced that “Soldier” would arrive in cinemas in October. The release was subsequently pushed back to December.
Although Shakib Khan has completed most of his dubbing, nine days of shooting remain unfinished. According to multiple sources associated with the production, director Sakib Fahad and executive producer Moumita Hossain have repeatedly failed to resume filming despite securing the actor’s schedule.
Production was initially expected to restart after the Eid-ul-Azha release of “Rockstar”. Shakib subsequently travelled to the United States for personal reasons and returned to Bangladesh in August after nearly two months. However, filming could not resume even then.
Shakib Khan’s manager, Monir Zaman, expressed frustration over the repeated delays, saying no other film featuring the superstar had faced such prolonged scheduling problems in recent years. He claimed that the production team had secured Shakib’s dates several times but failed to utilise them, adding that the allocated time would have been sufficient to complete two or three films.
Shakib is currently in the United States to attend the Dhallywood Awards and is expected to return home later
this month. He is scheduled to begin shooting Mehedi Hasan Hridoy’s upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr release in the second week of November, followed by Himel Ashraf’s “Mohabbat”. With these commitments approaching, uncertainty surrounds when Shakib can complete “Soldier”, leaving its release date unresolved.
