Bangladesh’s fighters delivered a spirited display at ZFC 002: Pride of Bangladesh on Friday, turning the event at Zulcan Indoor Arena into a night of home victories and hard-earned success.
At Bashundhara Sports City, Gazi Arnaz set the tone by defeating Shampa Islam in the opening bout, before Ganadan Chakma followed with another victory for Bangladesh in the second contest. Rakib Hossain then added to the home side’s success in Bout 3, ensuring the local fighters made their presence felt from the outset.
The night also brought title success for Sanjida Jannat and Manjoor Alam, who reclaimed their respective titles following their appearances at ZFC 1.
Sanjida overcame Malaysia’s Meredy Michael in the women’s professional boxing bout, while Manjoor secured victory against Indonesia’s Filipus Rangga in the professional MMA contest. After defeating Meredy, Sanjida credited her family for their support throughout her journey.
“I’m feeling good; I can’t explain myself. She (Meredy) is a very strong fighter, and I won against her after a tough fight. I would like to thank my family, who supported me throughout my journey,” she said.
Ganadan defeated Singapore’s Donovan McIntyre in Bout 2, while Rakib faced Dedy Imprax in the third contest. The card featured professional boxing, MMA, Muay Thai and bare-knuckle boxing, bringing together fighters from Bangladesh and overseas.
The headline attraction was the WMO Asia Muay Thai title fight between Bangladesh’s Masjedul Reza Omeo and Thailand’s Thanapat Titham.
Other contests featured Muhammad Rashed against Harry Hutagalong, Sean Rafael Sanny against Sirajul Rabbi, and Will Chope against Mostafa Ashouri in a bare-knuckle boxing bout.
