Prayer for Our President
A A

We pray for our newly sworn-in President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. We thank Almighty God for his life of patriotism and tireless dedication to the work for peace and progress of our people. He is the guardian of our nation and the head of our country. We pray that he will enjoy good health and strength as he has recently been elected by our Parliament to serve and lead the nation as the President. He has been known as a person of great political acumen, love and dedication for all people especially the poor and marginalised, as well as his contribution for the cause of upholding the principle of sustainable justice and peace at large. We pray at our homes and at places of worship for this widely known man of gentleness and peace. He has been highly regarded as a man of gentleness through and through.

Bangladesh is barely a developing country. Most of our people are middle-class and lower-middle economic class with low income. There are millions who are poor and the poorest. Now they are facing the problems of unemployment and as such acute food crisis. Our prime minister and his governmental machinery are trying their best to ameliorate this condition. Our President provides the government machinery such pastoral care and counselling within the framework of the Constitution. His is a holy office.

We pray for all people, especially for our prime minister, all other ministers, the members of our sovereign Parliament and all the local government so that they may do all their activities with maximum integrity, justice and fairness so that all people with diverse needs can enjoy the fine fruits of democracy. It must be noted that there are and always been anti-democratic people with their nefarious motives and activities in the society at large. They frustrate all plans and work of people with goodwill. It is too big a sin to play with the lot of the teeming helpless millions.  Nevertheless, there is no dearth of people with ill-motive in our society. Dishonesty and lack of good and efficient management and lack of commitment to the cause of the mass of men and women. Our fervent prayer is that our President will be a source of wisdom and encouragement for all public servants and leaders to effectively deal with each and any negative forces that frustrate people’s growth and upliftment, hopes and aspirations.

Let us be committed to our prayers for the President as he symbolises our national integrity, hope and honour. He is for all people of the country irrespective of any particular political affiliation, ideology, cast or creed or any social strata. There is no alternative to integrity and loving concern for the people. In his political career, our President has been a glaring example of respect for the cause of the people at large. He is the embodiment of the philosophy of our nation: the growth and nurture of human dignity of all our people. We rejoice in him. We wish him a long life!
