CIVIL AVIATION SCHOOL AND COLLEGE, KURMITOLA
Teacher candidate picked without sitting for exam
A candidate has allegedly been recommended for appointment as an assistant teacher at Civil Aviation School and College, Kurmitola without appearing in the recruitment examination or viva for the post, raising questions over the transparency of the recruitment process.
According to sources, a recruitment examination was held in June for the posts of lecturer and assistant teacher at the institution. Four candidates qualified in the written examination and demo class for the post of Physics teacher in the Bangla-version school section and subsequently appeared in the viva.
However, none of the four candidates was selected for the post. Instead, a candidate named Jannatul Ferdous Jina was reportedly recommended for appointment, although she did not take part in the recruitment process for the post.
The development has sparked criticism among the candidates and on social media, with questions being raised over the transparency and fairness of the selection process.
One of the candidates told the Daily Sun, “We four appeared in the viva. Later, we saw in the results that a female teacher had been selected. Perhaps someone from among those who appeared in the viva should have been selected — that is what the rules require.
“Then why was our time wasted? We gave demo classes, appeared in the viva and completed everything required. After passing the written examination, we were called for the viva and demo, and all four of us were present.”
Asked whether the school authorities had given any explanation, he said, “No, the authorities have not given any explanation in this regard.”
However, Wing Commander Md Abdul Hannan, principal of Civil Aviation School and College, Kurmitola, denied the allegation, saying, “This is completely false.
“After the selection process, no suitable candidate was found for the school section. So, a candidate from the college section was recommended for the school. However, the person who was recommended for the school ultimately did not join.”
Mohammad Nazmul Hoque, chairman of the Civil Aviation School and College, Kurmitola Governing Body, said he was not fully aware of the matter and would comment after looking into it.
Later, he said that a private institution could appoint anyone on a part-time basis.
