Law enforcement agencies have tightened security across the country ahead of 15 August to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

Police, RAB, BGB, APBN and other forces have been deployed at sensitive locations, while intelligence surveillance and patrols have been intensified.

In Dhaka, the DMP headquarters said in a statement on Friday that security had been strengthened across the capital to ensure public safety.

Pickets and checkposts are being operated at different points, while searches at all entry points will be intensified. Members of the Detective Branch (DB) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) will remain deployed for operational duties.

SWAT, the Bomb Disposal Unit and K-9 Unit will conduct sweeping operations at key locations and public places. Important installations will be monitored through CCTV cameras and drones, while members of the Counter Terrorism and Security Branch (CTSB) and Intelligence Analysis Division (IAD) will conduct intelligence operations in plain clothes.

Additional RAB and CID teams will also be deployed, while Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will remain on standby for emergencies.

Additional police personnel will be stationed at key points, event venues, metro rail stations, bus and launch terminals, railway stations, shopping malls and other sensitive locations. Senior DMP officials will supervise security arrangements in their respective areas.

In Gopalganj, five platoons of BGB, RAB, APBN and other law enforcement personnel have been deployed alongside police at key roads, intersections, government installations and public places.

Security has also been tightened around the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Mausoleum Complex in Tungipara, with intelligence surveillance and patrols increased.

A joint patrol led by Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner Md Arif-Uz-Zaman and Police Superintendent Md Habibullah inspected key areas and the mausoleum complex on Friday.

Habibullah said law enforcement personnel would remain alert to prevent any deterioration of the law and order situation. The deputy commissioner said five BGB platoons had been deployed to maintain security.

Meanwhile, RAB has taken special security measures nationwide.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the elite force said intelligence surveillance had been strengthened and security increased at sensitive locations. RAB personnel have also been deployed to prevent possible sabotage by banned organisations, extremist groups and criminals.
