Inqilab Moncho on Friday carried out a protest march at Dhaka University (DU), demanding a comprehensive investigation into the murder of its co- founder Sharif Osman Hadi.
They also demanded the swift extradition of the absconding accused from India to ensure justice.
The protest march began after Jummah prayers in front of the Dhaka University central mosque. The procession moved through campus roads and ended with a brief rally at the Raju Memorial Sculpture.
At the rally, the Rajshahi University Students Union (RUCSU) General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar said that successive governments from the previous interim administration to the current political regime have used the murder of Osman Hadi as a political issue.
He also said that whenever the country faces crises, including price hikes, child deaths, or major accidents, the authorities raise the issue of the trial process of the case.
Inqilab Moncho member GA Sabbir said that the platform had given the government a one-week ultimatum to outline the trial process, but no clear timeline was provided. Authorities were not giving the case proper attention, he added.
He also said that they had contacted the concerned authorities to know how long the trial would take, but received no clear answer.
Sabbir further warned that if the government does not clarify its position soon, the organisation will launch continuous protests demanding accountability from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant investigation agencies.
