A business delegation from the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), currently visiting China, participated in the 6th Guangzhou Sourcing Fair held on Thursday in Guangzhou, aiming to explore new trade and investment opportunities.

During a B2B matchmaking session organised as part of the fair, members of the DCCI delegation, led by Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury, exchanged business and investment-related information with around 150 Chinese supplier companies, according to a press release.

Speaking at a bilateral discussion on supply chain issues held on the sidelines of the fair, Razeev said Bangladesh and China share a long-standing, multidimensional partnership spanning trade, investment, infrastructure, education and human resource development.

He noted that total bilateral trade between the two countries stood at US$18.89 billion in the fiscal 2024-25, with Bangladesh’s imports and exports amounting to $18.20 billion and $694.49 million respectively.

He also invited Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in various sectors in Bangladesh, including textiles and textile products, machinery, chemicals, metals, plastics, minerals and agro-based industries.

During the exchange meeting, Nicole Fan, director of Poly Jinhan Exhibition (Poly Events), said the fair would play a significant role in strengthening business ties between entrepreneurs from China and Bangladesh.

She expressed hope that more Bangladeshi entrepreneurs would participate in the sourcing fair in the coming years, adding that the platform would help local buyers connect with China’s vast supplier network and explore new avenues of collaboration.
