Government, semi-government and private offices, courts, banks and financial institutions reopened on Tuesday with limited attendance after the weeklong Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

Bus and launch terminals remained crowded as people continued returning to the city, while a noticeable increase in office-bound commuters was seen across various areas from the morning.

More buses were in operation on key routes, and the presence of CNG-run auto-rickshaws and ride-sharing motorcycles was also evident. Despite this, traffic and pedestrian movement on the streets remained lighter than on a typical working day.

Office areas such as the Secretariat, Motijheel and Karwan Bazar are gradually regaining activity, with employees returning to work and exchanging Eid greetings. However, a festive atmosphere continues to prevail, as many people are yet to return to the capital.

Banking activities remained relatively slow on the first working day after the holiday, with lower customer turnout reflecting the lingering festive mood.

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest religious festivals of the Muslim community, was celebrated in Bangladesh on 21 March with religious solemnity and festive enthusiasm. A seven-day holiday was observed from 17 to 23 March on the occasion.
