Special prayers were held at mosques across the country on Friday seeking the quick recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, and marking the return of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his family to their homeland.
The prayers were offered after Jummah at the initiative of the BNP.
Earlier, the party called on leaders and activists at all levels, along with its affiliated and associate organisations and the general public, to take part in the programme across the country.
In a directive signed on Thursday night, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi urged party leaders and activists to offer the prayers.
According to party insiders, Tarique is scheduled to offer special prayers at the grave of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi on Saturday.
The BNP leaders would also visit those injured during the July–August mass uprising currently undergoing treatment at NITOR in Sher-e-Banglanagar.
